  • Message from Principal Pete Riley
Hello McKinley families, students and supporters.  I want to start by hoping everyone is healthy and staying safe as much as possible.  Your commitment for the safety of your children and families is the most important thing you can do right now.  This week we are continuing to reach out to students and families to connect, answer questions and be sure everyone has the necessary access to engage in learning and conversation.  As for what we know right now, per the Governor’s extended Safe at Home order, the schools will be closed until April 24th .  Until that order is lifted, McKinley staff will continue to communicate and provide instruction from a distance.  Recently we received some recommendations from the district about estimated times students should be engaged is studies each week.  For High Schoolers is recommended they are engaged about 90 minutes per week, per subject.  Teaching staff will aim for this when providing their individualized lessons and activities for students.  What that looks like in each household is different.  I want you to know it is okay if students aren’t “doing something” directly related to a school assignment every minute of the usual school day.  Every student has unique circumstances.  Finally I want you to know the entire Eau Claire Area School District staff is working to provide some normalcy to a very uncertain time in the world.  Please reach out to myself or any McKinley staff with questions, concerns, or to just check in and talk.  Thank you and I hope you are all staying healthy.  Remember:  Safer at Home!
