Emergency Action Plan
A crisis response plan has been developed through the joint effort of District personnel, the Eau Claire Police Department, the Eau Claire Fire Department, and the County Emergency Government Coordinator. In times of crisis, the responsibility of the school administrators and staff is to ensure the safety of the students.
How does the plan work?
Plans for responding to fire, tornado, medical, security, and other potentially life-threatening emergencies have been developed. It is left to the building principal to determine if an event is a crisis or has the potential of becoming a crisis. The Central Office will be notified of all crisis situations. County Emergency Service Agencies will coordinate emergency activities.
How do I get information about an incident?
Should an emergency event involve an entire school, the District's Central Office will communicate with the public as soon as possible via the media. (WEAU-TV13, WQOW-TV18). The building principal will also send parents a letter explaining the event and actions taken.
What if school closes early?
When school closes early, bus service will be arranged with Student Transit. Children with no one to pick them up or no parent at home shall be discharged to the emergency drop spot identified by parents at the start of the school year.
Special Concerns
Special provisions for special populations - Contact building principals for details if children have special care needs. The Central Office will notify the YMCA and Grace Lutheran Day Care if school is cancelled. Day care providers will notify parents and make child care arrangements.
