Library Procedures

Number of Books and Materials
Kindergarten students checkout three books each week: a basket book, an everybody fiction book, and an everybody non-fiction book. We begin by checking out one book at a time, and building up to three books.

First grade students can checkout four library items.  Two of these must be from the basket books.
Students in second through fifth grade are able to checkout up to six library items of their choice.

Due Dates
Books are officially due a week after checkout and have a grace period of an extra week; however, books may be renewed until the student has finished reading the book.

Fines
Fines are not charged for overdue books, however replacement costs will be charged for lost or damaged items. A bill will be sent home with the student.

Overdue Notices
Overdue notices may be sent to parents via e-mail if a parent has submitted an e-mail address to the school district.  Students also receive a paper copy of overdue notices on Mondays. These overdue notices are computer generated and are sometimes sent out inadvertently. If you receive one of these notices and it doesn't seem quite right, please contact Mrs. Kohls at 715.852.4009.
