The primary focus of speech and language therapy in the schools:
To target speech and language needs that interfere with a child’s ability to benefit from the educational process in one or more of the following areas:

Academic: The ability to benefit from the curriculum
Social: The ability to interact with peers and adults
Vocational: The ability to participate in work-related activities

Speech/language therapy is individualized and outcome based.

We feel it is important to include parents and  teachers as active participants in the journey to developing each child’s communication skills.

When a child is placed in speech and language therapy, IEP goals will be targeted from a team approach. The SLP, parent, teacher and child will work together to develop communication to the fullest potential. From the minute the child is placed in therapy, our goal is to foster communication independence by applying strategies we teach. Our ultimate goal will be functional communication.
